World AIDS Orphans Day 7th May, 2012



Towards Zero Discrimination Against Children Living With or
Affected by HIV and AIDS”


Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society has observed World AIDS Orphans Day on 7th May, 2012 in collaboration with UMEED at Butchery Ground, Cantonment, Lucknow. The theme of the progamme was “Getting to Zero - Zero New HIV Infections; Zero Discrimination and Zero AIDS Related Deaths” and is in sync with the “Getting to Zero” campaign.
 "World AIDS Orphan Day" has been taken as an opportunity to attempt to set a new world record of Longest Red Ribbon Created by Hand Prints of Children. Officials of Guinness Book of World Records and Limca Book of World Records were present during the event. Approximately 7,000 students from 22 schools gave their handprints on 1005.7 metres long ribbon in 15 minutes and set a new world record for the longest red ribbon on earth breaking the existing record. Mr. Nikhil Shukla, representative of Guinness Book of Records and Mr. V.V. Murti, representative of Limca Book of World Records, gave away the certificate and appreciated the effort by the children.

World AIDS Day 2011


“Getting to Zero – Zero New Infections – Zero Deaths – Zero Discriminations”

UP State AIDS Control Society has observed 1st of December, 2011 as World AIDS Day.  An Awareness Generation Campaign on the Theme of – “Getting to Zero” was organized by UP State AIDS Control Society. This awareness generation campaign includes Media Sensitization on HIV/AIDS, Mass Media Campaign through IEC Mobile Vans, Hoardings, Banners, Road Shows and Street Plays, Candle Light March, Symposium and Signature Campaign. Through these different events we have tried to connect with people for HIV awareness. This includes youths also. UPSACS has organized awareness generation activities at district level also with the support of District AIDS Coordination Committee. The success of this awareness campaign is possible because of the invaluable support of our partners- UNICEF, HLFPPT, TSU, UPNP, NSS and TI NGOs.

Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society invites community participation to see youth as players, not as a separate dimension but as an integral aspect of the operational implications of the mainstream programme planning and implementation.


As part of our Youth Awareness Programme, UPSACS Sponsored a Wall Painting Exhibition with College of Arts and Craft, Lucknow University, to mark the centenary year celebrations of the college.The exhibition comprised creative expression in the medium of painting, print, photography, line drawing and sculpture.More than 200 artists aged 23 to 85 created this world record of longest mural painting spreading over 8000 square feet. Earlier the record was for 6500 square feet long mural painting from Bangluru.


Mr. VVR Murthy, Marketing Manager from Limca Book of Records, confirmed that this world record is special because of the theme “HIV Awareness”.
